Chasing a Supertwister inside the World’s Most Powerful Computers

One of AVL's most famous animated atmospheric visualization is of an F3 supertwister from the perspective of a stormchaser.  The 2004 visualization is based on the computational atmospheric research of Bob Wilhelmson and Matt Gilmore of the University of Illinois and Lou Wicker of the National Severe Storms Laboratory of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.  Scientists found a second funnel cloud feeding into the first, more powerful funnel when they examined the visualization.
